In this course, you don't press the buttons yourself. You tell Claude what you want, and Claude does the steps in OpenDirector: the script, the people, the voices, the clips and the edit. Your job is to check, decide and give notes, like a director with an editor.
That only works if you talk to Claude the right way. These nine habits are all it takes.
Why you shouldn't skip the prep+
1. Ask when you're confused
Didn't understand a word, a step or a button? Ask. "What is a character sheet?" "Where is the Editor?" "What did you just do?" Claude explains in simple words and shows you where to look. There are no silly questions here. Most words Claude uses also have their own lesson in AI Video 101, like the character sheet.
2. Ask when something doesn't go your way
A face looks wrong, a voice sounds flat, a cut feels sudden? Say so, in one sentence: "Tanvi should look doubtful here, not shy." Claude finds the cause and fixes only that part. You can also pause the video in the Editor and leave a comment at that exact second. Both work.
3. Type in any language you like
English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, whatever you think in. Claude understands it, and the film can still be in another language. Typos don't matter either.
4. Never approve a generation you don't understand
Before anything paid runs (an image, a voice, a clip), Claude shows a card with what it will make and what it costs, and waits for your yes. If you don't understand the card, don't click go ahead. Ask: "Explain this to me first." A yes you didn't understand is the most expensive click in the course. To know what a fair price looks like, see model prices compared.
5. Not sure between options? Ask for both, and a pick
Claude often offers choices: two video models, a cheap draft or a final, two ways to make a shot. If you really don't know, write:
I don't understand the difference. Explain both options in simple words, and tell me which one you recommend and why.
Then pick. Claude marks its own recommendation on the card too.
6. Keep OpenDirector signed in inside Claude's browser
Claude works in OpenDirector inside its own browser, separate from your normal Chrome. Sign in to OpenDirector there once, and keep its cookies (the small files that remember you're signed in): don't clear them. Then you won't have to sign in again every session. If it keeps asking you to sign in, tell Claude, and it will help you bring your sign-in into its browser.
7. Open Claude's browser to watch the work
In the Claude desktop app, click the browser icon at the top right of the chat. The browser opens next to the chat, and every page Claude opens shows up there: your film, its tabs, the Editor. You can click around in it too.
8. Empty tab? Ask Claude to open the URL
Sometimes the browser tab comes up blank, or shows the wrong page. Don't hunt for it yourself. Type: "The browser tab is empty. Open app.opendirector.co in it" (or the film's link). Claude opens it, and you're back.
9. Pick a Claude plan that fits
Making a film takes a lot of back-and-forth with Claude. If you want to make more than one video a day, a $100 or $200 a month Claude plan is the best fit: you won't run out halfway through a film. For a video now and then, a smaller plan is fine to start with.
Next: connect Claude to OpenDirector
That's the whole list. Next, connect OpenDirector to Claude and install the plugin. Then the four films in module 2 show these habits in a real session, start to finish. This course builds on AI Video 101: Claude does those same steps for you, so it helps to know them.
Quick answers

No. You give notes, like you would to a human editor. Claude does the editing in OpenDirector.
Will Claude spend my credits without asking?
No. Every paid step shows its cost first and waits for your approval.
Can I write to Claude in Hindi?
Yes. Type in any language you understand; the film can be in a different one.
The browser in Claude is empty. What do I do?
Ask Claude to open app.opendirector.co (or your film's link) in the browser tab.
